The advent of the internet and the advances in technologies has meant that there have been very big leaps forward in the services available in the Foreign Exchange Markets. The markets themselves are 24/7 as up to date exchange rates are available around the world. Euro, dollar, sterling etc Exchange rates can be found in all manner of places on the internet and many websites take a live feed of current world exchange rates. However be slightly wary of these as they could be 'tourist exchange rates' - ie what you get for changing pounds into dollars if you are going on holiday to the USA. The rates could also be the 'interbank rate' (or market rate) which is what one bank exchanges currencies for with another bank. These rates are only applicable for multi million transactions.
A few years ago it was not as easy to monitor exchange rates and the customer would not necessarily get the best exchange rate. Nowadays customers can judge for themselves whether an exchange rate is fair, whatever their needs.
Technology has speeded up the processes involved in money transfers and for travel money. Currency transfers can be made more swiftly and can be traced easily in the unlikely event of a hold up in the transfer. Currency deals were normally conducted over the telephone and you would buy your holiday money over the counter from a Bank, post office or bureaux de Change.
So if you are going on vacation to Europe there are various ways of buying currency (euro). Before you go you can buy from a Bureaux de Change or a Bank, but this means that you will have to drive into your town or city, park and find the location. More commonly people are now buying currency online for best exchange rates and ease of service. Technology means that you can see the relevant exchange rate on offer and buy the currency using a secure payment method. The currency, whether euros, dollars, rupees or pounds are then dispatched by insured post to you door. Online currency purchase is becoming very popular as it is convenient, safe and easy.
Many people buy assets such as houses, cars and boats overseas and they need to transfer currency to pay for the goods. Many thousands of people emigrate every year and they also need to transfer currency at competitive exchange rates. Up until recently most trades were carried out over the telephone with a currency dealer of a currency company, but increasingly more and more clients take advantage of online currency transfers. The online currency platform allows clients to register, complete relevant compliance forms, monitor exchange rates and execute their online currency transaction. Online currency systems are very convenient and the exchange rates are very competitive.
