Overseas investments
With the advent of online information and a global outlook, many UK Investment Houses, UK Investment Companies, Hedge Funds, Stockbrokers and private investors are looking
overseas for alternative investment opportunities. Instead of buying into an overseas fund it is possible to make the Overseas Investment yourself. Companies and funds in Europe, the USA
, Japan and other countries are widely tipped or researched. As an alternative to using a Bank or Investment company to transfer the currency overseas it is now possible use the services of
a Foreign Currency Company to make the currency transfer for you. The Sterling will be converted at competitive exchange rates and transferred directly to the relaevant Bank account in the required currency.
Once an Investment has been stopped then the reverse process can be undertaken - the Investment company transmits the funds to the Foreign Exchange Company (needs to be authorised that this can done first) who will then convert the currency back into sterling on the
instruction of the client.
Foreign Exchange Companies require that clients complete relevant paperwork to comply with money-laundering regulations. Once registered then the Forex company will quote live
exchange rates for the transaction. Once an exchange rate is agreed then the client transfers the sterling to the Foreign Exchange company whom then forwards the currency on receipt of the GBP.
The transfer on average takes two working days, but this varies according to the currency and country. Simple and straightforward with a Forex Dealer on hand to help. alternatively many
Forex Companies offer an to do the whole currency exchange and transfer online. If you are selling an investment overseas then the funds can be bought back in a similar way - although
you will need to check with the Investment company that they are able to transfer the funds to a Foreign Exchange company rather than to the individual. If not it would necessitate opening a foreign currency account with a High Street Bank.
